The name of this process is a combination of two Greek words. The word ‘hystera’ means womb in English and ‘ektomia’ means cutting off of anything in the human body.
The meanings of the words suggest that hysterectomy means removal of uterus from the human body.
If the uterus is removed along with all the fallopian tubes and cervix, etc., then the process is called ‘complete hysterectomy’ and if not, then it’s called ‘partial hysterectomy’.
Non-decent hysterectomy is performed through the vagina and it is preferred over every other kind of uterus removal operation.
If the uterine fibroids have swollen up and are bleeding a lot, then it should be performed for sure.
If you’re getting a lot of pelvic pain and the periods that you’re getting are really heavy.
If there is a cancer in the cervix, uterus or ovaries.
After performing the non-descent vaginal hysterectomy, the woman is rendered with zero potential to conceive a baby.
The surgery may require the woman to stay in the hospital for one to two days depending on the pain caused.
A surgical menopause can occur after this surgery because the level of estrogen falls down completely in the body.
Unfortunately, urinary incontinency can also occur which means that the woman would be forced to stay indoors in order to avoid embarrassment.
This can also cause an increased risk of cancer in the renal cells.
There can be a lot of hormonal effects which means that temperament issues and other abnormal issues can occur.
The process is very easy and does not take long like other surgeries.
It has a great advantage over abdominal hysterectomy, where insertions would instead be made in your abdomen.
The abdominal surgery, also leaves a lot of stretch marks and takes longer to recover from. This is not the case when it comes to non-descent vaginal hysterectomy.
The woman on whom NDVH is performed can go back home the very day because it is very easy to recover from this surgery.
